The Amazing story of Sarah Scherer!

Sarah Scherer rose through life and the elite shooting ranks shoulder to shoulder with her older brother, Stephen. They began with a BB gun they got from a family friend, firing at a target in a long hallway of their Woburn, Mass., home. They enrolled, at ages 9 and 11, for the junior program at a local range after Stephen called and found out it cost just $1 each. They honed their technique by shared trial and error, often during late-night practices.

They were home-schooled by their single mom, Susan Scherer, and they worked alongside her in various ventures, including a daycare, wedding catering, and home cleaning and renovation. They both lit up the 2008 Olympic trials. Stephen qualified for the Beijing Games by upsetting 2004 Olympic champion Matt Emmons in air rifle.
