UNILAG TO MAULAG : Court restrains FG from renaming Varsity!
After a protracted ‘war’ between students, alumni, angry Nigerians and the presidency over the renaming of University of Lagos (UNILAG) after Bashorun MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12 1993 presidential election, a federal high court in Lagos, today (Monday), granted a temporary order restraning the Federal Government from renaming the University of Lagos after the late politician.
Justice Stephen Adah, ruling in the suits brought against the May 29, 2012 renaming of the institution by the students and alumni of the university asked the litigants to harmonize the suits, just as it adjourned further hearing in the case till July 4.
